Useful Links


  • Register and take the ACT (several times!).
  • Narrow your college choices down to 2 or 3.
  • Visit college campuses that are a good match with your abilities and interests.
  • Prepare college applications and compose needed essays.
  • Search, search, search for scholarship money.
    • Complete the applications and meet the deadlines.  Send a thank-you
      note to thank them for their time and for considering you for the scholarship money.
  • In October, apply for the FAFSA PIN number and complete and submit your FAFSA (free application for student financial aid) . This is VERY IMPORTANT!!
  • Contact the admissions office of the college(s) you have applied for to make sure they have received all they need from you.
  • After you receive your Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA,make necessary corrections and return it as soon as possible.
  • Contact the financial aid office of the college(s) you have applied to make sure your information has been received and they have everything they need.
  • Request that your high school send your official transcript to the college(s) to which you are applying.
  • You will hear from colleges as to whether or not you are accepted by April 15th.  Compare your acceptance letters, financial aid, and scholarship offers.
  • You should make a decision by May 1st as to which college you will be attending and notify that school.
